Hi.

It is my first post. I am phographing with my old 400D Camera (Raw pictures). I processed them using the Digital Photo Professional SW (supplied with the camera). Eventhoug I "save as.." in tiff format and open it with photoshop or any other SW, image quality seems to be different when I compare the visualization in Canon SW and Photoshop. In Canon SW the image seems to be better.

Any idea?

Thanks a lot.
Leimar

Don't use "Save as", use "File > Convert and save" to export it as a tif or jpg (use "Batch Process" for more then one image).

AdobeCamera Raw cannot read the DPP adjustments (and vice-versa), so you need to render the image for Photoshop (proper) to be able to open the image.

Are you saying that the DPP preview before you convert and save to tiff looks better than the tiff does when opened in Photoshop? Can you please describe in what ways they are different; in color, tonality (lighter or darker), contrast, sharpness or what?
When comparing any two programs it should always be done with the image at 100% zoom (also called "full sized" or "1:1") because every program has its own way of reducing an image to make it fit the screen and some are better than others.

I don't recognise the SW the OP has attached to DPP. Can someone explain?

SoftWare I presume?

I also see now that the OP mentioned "Save as a tif", so it might be my post is moot ;)

Hi. Thanks for all the replies.

I uploaded one example. The image in photoshop has a smaller contrast an smaller saturation. They are both in 100%. I used the option "Convert and Save".

If we see the image in smaller ZOOM the diference is even more noticible.

Thanks again

The first thing is to be sure your DPP Preferences/Color Management is set up properly. The working space should be the same as the default working space in PS. The monitor profile should be either 'Use OS default' (Windows only) or set to the monitor profile used by the OS. CMYK simulation must be 'None'.
