Ed, Swiss Army knifes are probably just as common over here as they are in Switzerland. Yours may be a made by the same company that makes the actual knifes for the Swiss military and that brand may not be common here, but the generic item is.

The original brand is common here, too. I have a small one with the traditional cross on the case.

"Original"= Victorinox , but Wenger had a claim too: https://www.cardiocritic.com …knives-victorinox-wenger/ (external link)
I used to prefer Wengers for their scissor mechanism, but they were bought out by Victorinox, who carried on with the name. I haven't seen a Wenger for a while.

The ones I carry in my backpack are Wengers

... and I haven’t really lived in the UK for 25 years, so I am not sure if stationary stores would carry them. I guess ironmongers are a dying breed!

Ironmongers still live, although we call them hardware stores here. There are also specialty knife shops. Large pharmacy chains may have pocketknives and folding combination tools. Why not? They have everything else.

The term "Ironmonger" has gone the way of "Wireless", "Haberdasher" and "Shooting brake", but we still have some hardware shops, stacked floor to ceiling with every variant of tool and widget, reachable only with the shopkeeper's long lazy-tong. Usually an immigrant, he'll have the coordinates of each of his thousands of items in his head. His ilk are just as fascinating in far flung parts of the world, invariably with signature pots and pans outside, these days accompanied by plastic boxes piled high. It used to be interesting to see where someone in, say, Morocco would source his wood planes and plumbing supplies, but so many now bear the sign, always in English, "Made in China".
Pocket knives are to be found in camping shops, displayed as fashion accessories. The Leatherman style has stolen territory, largely on the grounds of being more sexy. In today's culture they come with a hazard: they're a lock knife and automatically therefore, an Offensive Weapon in the UK. Vindictive police will prosecute you for carrying one, if they have the urge, and your life will have a criminal record. It has happened to people stopped for speeding, who were too recalcitrant.

I have not forgotten to post the next macro. Just been tied up. Yesterday, the connector on the end of the flexible tubing for the cold water supply to the kitchen sink decided to crack. That had to be fixed. I try to keep the flow of this game going when it is my time, but this time, having a working kitchen sink just seemed more important than posting the next macro. :-)

So here is the next one. I hardly put any effort in it to rush the next image up. I hope it is not too easy. -?

No worries Phil. I'd have done the same.

Is this a part of a cooking appliance?

The function of this item is not to "keep personal stuff to yourself."

No, this item is not part of a cooking appliance.

Would it be expected to live indoors or outdoors?

I have seen them inside but they are commonly found outdoors.
