Whatever! Are you alluding to this post? I didn't say nothing goes through any part of the bracket. The question at that time pertained to what the first macro showed, one end of the "smiley" hole. Looking more closely, I think I made a mistake there. It's a slot that goes all the way through the bracket. I thought it had a solid bottom and couldn't be punctured without breakage. It is a slot instead of a screw so you can position the detector better. I doubt I would have guessed it was a smoke detector if you had answered differently, but it sure would have lead to my asking different questions. Philip
