I don't think it's significantly springy, though the wire's obviously wound round like that spring. I'll go try it...
Nope, not springy.


You wouldn't ever use one of these with a gate.

No! But I've been out of the UK too long ... I can't remember what was associated with doors when I was a kid. And what is really annoying is that I can half see what it is (and half remember).
