Is what we are looking at a handle?

I'd say it's where the handle becomes the working part.

I can just show this one and we can move on, if y'all want.

Wait. I'd like to narrow the category down, but I'll jump to a more direct question. Is this a piece of tableware?

When it isn't being tableware, would it be used in cooking?

Is it something like this?

Why I asked about insulating material: The dark brown part in my photo is nonconductive. You can stir soup on the stove with this spoon without heating fingers.

But this spoon doesn't have an exposed, shiny metal strip on the back. Having one would thwart the insulating feature.

No spoons, no ladles, despite that rounded part. -?

Is the opposite side from what's shown, the side you're calling the top, concave where the macro shows a bowl-like convexity?

No, it is simply the other side with its own shape.

I suspect the actual shape (which is admittedly and somewhat knowingly hard to represent) and scale are the stumbling blocks here. Ignoring the terry cloth that is supporting the object, the width is in the 13~20mm range depending on the actual sample.

Is the whole object about the same length as an ordinary eating utensil?
