No, but close enough. It is the pivot point that the nose piece is sitting on and yes it pivots slightly. These are my reading glasses. I'm wondering if anyone picked up on the number of times I said "read" in my posts. :)

I think the term is used jocularly but less often than in the past. There are still enough people who would understand it.
