Thanks. For clarity guys I'm not looking to identify the larger object this one is a part of. Though if it looks like it's getting too hard for everyone I'll accept the larger object

Would this usually be carried on a belt?

Would you take it on a mountain hike?

Does the small item attach to a camera strap or simular strap?

Is it a walking stick for some reason?

Please clarify. If you take the larger item on a hike, doesn't the smaller item necessarily go along? Or are we looking for something detachable?

<splitting hairs>The action of being taken on a hike applies to the larger item. The part in the image going along is a consequence. </splitting hairs>
It's not detachable.

Is the backpack the larger item you were looking for? If so, then did the smaller item come with the backpack originally? Or if the backpack is "background," are we to identify a larger item and a smaller item, both of which are attached to or are part(s) of the backpack? If the latter, then did one or both of the two items come with the backpack originally?

The backpack is the large whole object. The small item in the posted image is part of it.

Okay, so did the small item come with the backpack originally?

Is the small object available without a backpack or is it integral to it?
