Is this used in working with a material such as wood, metal, or leather?

Nope to any material

No flammable gas you mean?
So we have something that air passes through, the air moves something, it gets hotter. As it gets hotter it spins faster.
So some kind of a turbine?

No gas used

And Yes you are nearly on the right track,

Clue no. 4 Object does not produce the heat, but heat is involved

Just starting to think about wind turbines...

wrong but right track

Sorry I am now confused. For me, air is a gas ... or do we have a transatlantic linguistic problem?

Nope

Would one have been used in Around the World in 80 Days?

EDIT ... I have just remembered that I have a laboratory demonstrator of an air-powered generator .......

No gas is used by the object as in not a power source, But it does use the air as a means to distribute something, so think of all the clues and one should have the answer..

Clue no. 5, its used within the home especially in the winter..wait that's two clues...D'oh... :-)

Probably not, as Pegasus1 is on your side of the Atlantic. We may have a problem caused by differences in level of education in science. I think of air as a mixture of gases (e.g., nitrogen) and sometimes as including moisture, particulates, and everything else that floats in it.

Is heat the "something"?

Benitoite wrote in post #18305876 (external link)
Never seen a solar space heater.

If I may translate from Chetese, the sun heats the space around it, or part of "outer space."
