Is there any benefit of using work time to solve this? Like do I have this item sitting next to me?

Um, a paycheck? Sounds worthwhile to me.

Are there moving parts inside?

No. Also no moving parts outside. This thing is one piece.

Do you wind it up before it can do whatever it is it does?

No.

Is the lettering in any way connected to its use?

No. The lettering is the manufacturer's name.

A bit confusing

If this thing breaks, or you want a different color or shape, and you get a new one, you have to reconfigure the next item in the series to attach the new one. The method of attachment takes advantage of gravity. (This is a fancy way of saying something very simple. What you do in replacing one of these will become clear if anyone ever identifies the object. I expect to hear a chorus of forehead slapping.)

Is it round in shape?

Yes, along one dimension.

CanopicJar wrote in post #17173014 (external link)
Does it react to sunlight?

No.

Chet wrote in post #17173040 (external link)
How many pieces make up the complete item in it's normal state of use?

Many.

Maybe you should get back to work.

Is it cylindrical in shape, with consistent diameter?
Does it fit to the next assembly via some kind of compression method?

It's cylindrical with varying diameter. If I understand your other question, the answer is no. Gravity is the only force that holds the two items together.

More than 4.

Is each piece of different size/shape?

You said that it was operated manually. That would suggest it does something and is not just decorative. Is this correct?

I know it's not for storage, but you said you could put something inside this thing that wouldn't necessarily stay there if left alone. I am puzzled by how something can move/disappear on its own without evaporating or pushed from its place by moving parts. Are there holes in this thing, so things could fall out, or possibly leak out?

Does it stand on a flat surface, like a table?

Or does it hang from the ceiling?

A bit confusing

I'm thinking it hangs so it's fastened and held on by gravity, the opening is on the bottom so if you put something it it it wouldn't stay. Is it some sort of window shade attachement piece?
