In normal use, is A fixed permanently to B?

I mean, if A were glued/welded to B, would the thing still function normally?

A and B are fixed always.

is the part 'A' a centre for rotational movement of part 'C' relative to part 'B'?

Also if the above is true, is part C a lid, and part B a compartment?

It's translational with no rotation. No compartments involved.

EDIT: Let me rephrase that, there are no compartments in what you see in this image. There is a compartment in the whole object.

Are we looking at an object that has a compartment that holds something small?

Is the shot from the top of the object?
Is the shot from a front/back/side elevation?
is the shot from the bottom of the object?

is there a god? :D
(the last one was a trick question!) :)

No

1. There is no top.
2. So no.
3. See above.

is there a god? :D

I don't think so but others might disagree:)

Is this part of a lid/catch release mechanism?

Is Trump a more dangerous experiment than Brexit? (Well we have religion...)

Is god what's in the box, ie the mystery which disappears when you understand it?

Can you find the subject of this challenge for sale at Home Depot? That is, in its entirety... irrespective the component that is shown in the photo, which might be found for sale at Home Depot.

Is it yellow because the company that made it paints its products (for brand recognition reasons) yellow such as Yellow Cab, Dewalt, or Caterpillar?

Clarification on top.

There is a chance that you use this in one orientation more than another so you could define something as top. If you do this then this view is from the top.

Everyone will have a version of this, or at least the household will.

No need to be provocative.

I know but that's why they wear them.

Is this sliding thing a switch?
