Finally getting there! But following the general trend of this thread you have taken the orthogonal route.

Yes, that's how we play. Requiring players to know what Brillat-Savarin said about wine in order to interpret a clue isn't fair. In the U.S., "a day without sunshine" is associated with orange juice and a pop singer and a public protest–for those who are old enough to remember (but not too old to remember anything). I suspect that not even all Europeans are aware of B-S's comment.

No, B-S usually means something rather different, and I don't mean British Standards.

I'd never heard of him, despite similarities in our education. I didn't "get" the Sunshine link until I'd looked it up. A day without sunshine, is, ordinary.

But, who said it had to be fair :-P

OK, it is simple and it has been done before, but I am reminded about what Monty Python said all those years ago. That has absolutely nothing to do with the object, I have just been reminded of a few sketches recently, so no need to google. ;)

Close enough, you are up..... (still trying to get my head around the latest rules :D )

I have sought a second opinion and apparently it is not at all related to alligators, at least in Bristol, UK.

Now I wish I'd snapped up that copy of Monty Python's complete works when I had the chance.

Is this not-alligator often kept in a workshop?

Not cast iron, I suspect much cheaper, but I assume it is metal.

LOL. Actually, there is a line in one of the Monty P songs which has a reference similar to the name of this object. But let's not go down that route, all of life can be found in a Monty P sketch or song. Just always look on the bright sight of life...

Did you answer the question OhLook asked or were your Monty Python comments actually the answer?
