Focus on something far away at 70mm, then zoom to 200mm.
Is it out of focus?

The focus of a lens drifts over time, especially with change in temperature, so it can't just "be" parfocal, it's gotta have those knobs or else. I have to admit, though, sometimes even I zoom after focusing. 5DmkII | 24-70 f/2.8L II | Pentax 645Z | 55/2.8 SDM | 120/4 Macro | 150/2.8 IF

It's not as bad as the 24-105, but there are few if any SLR zooms that are truly parfocal. Edward Jenner
