Do you think a new studio camera will be released? (1ds Mark IV?)

I know I know, no one knows. I'm just wanting some basic opinions and peoples opinion on the camera itself. Even if you don't plan on buying one. Do you think its needed, especially based on what Nikon has with the MP d800 being used for studio? I myself would probably go with a 5D because my photography doesn't really need a "1ds" but I would like to see Canon release a new 1ds just because of how awesome the 1ds mark III was back in it's prime.

You can also post what you would like to see in it :)

I thought Canon said when they introduced the 1Dx that it represented the next step in both 1D product lines.

I'm not trying to make it a rumor thread I just am interested on peoples opinion of a refresh of a canon studio style camera (1ds style, big megapix). I'm not saying one will be released or anything.

Right now the specs are:
38 to 41 megapixels
6 to 8fps
ISO max 6400 (but it will be better than the 5dmiii's iso 800)
Dual CF cards
Wireless transmitter built into body.

They also claimed that the 1Ds line was dead. But since then they have hinted at a change of mind. Nothing set in concrete but I'm hoping for an updated 1Ds at some time.

I shoot landscapes and want a camera that has good DR, superb low ISO performance and low noise in the shadow areas, a particularly weak area for Canon right now. I don't shoot video, don't use anything higher than 400ISO generally and don't shoot black cats in coal holes, so I don't fit Canons current mindset at all. Cheap gimmicks I don't need.

I want to see something with multiple EF mounts.... so that you can attach several lenses all at once, and just rotate the lens into position - would make swapping lens so much faster!

Imagine a wedding with a 35L 85L and 100L all mounted at once... rotate for what you need when you need!

Um, I think that's called a "zoom lens".

Pretty sure the 1Ds line is dead, along with the 1D line...

1DX and 7D have replaced the 1D series (sports/action oriented camera). For the time being, 5D Mark III has replaced the 1Ds series.

But, yes, there will be a new full frame Canon with a very high pixel count (rumors vary (external link), but most likely 36MP or more... some say 50MP or more is possilbe). Canon actually has no choice, the competition is already offering such a camera.

"1Ds" series is dead by Canon's own pronouncements. So it will be called something different... Personally I like the sound of "1DXs" ("one dee excess"). It should come with a gold chain with a diamond encrusted Canon logo pendant.

Well, not exactly f/1.2 but I´m sure the background compression at 600m f/2.8 would compensate for that:

Besides, by the size of the box you can see it is very compact and light! And it has IS too! :p

Photography is about GEAR and not talent or practice. Practice won't make you a better photographer. Expensive equipment will. =D
