Well I'm going to probably suffer with this one but I don't ever find ETTL accurate. I always have to adjust the FEC based on the conditions. ETTL works when bouncing and I just have adjust the FEC more to get the exposure, so for me all in all there is no difference as I have to work it either way.

ETTL is accurate given the reflective metering capabilities and limitations.
If the scene is generally mid-tone then the ETTL metering will be accurate, if the scene is reflectively brighter, i.e. white, then it will under expose to get to mid-tone. etc.
I probably shoot 40 to 50 K images a year using ETTL and 98% of them require less than a half stop of exposure adjustment in Lightroom. Do I use FEC, some, but not as often as one would think.
Do I chimp. You bet.
