Hello all. Has anyone ever came across any camera straps that can detach quickly and easily, yet have very little hanging from the camera end?

Given that I shoot photos and video, having the ability to quickly detach my straps if moving from taking images to quickly moving onto a Glidecam, having little hanging on the body end helps greatly.

Any help would be mucho appreciated.
Thanks

OpTech has a variety of connectors (external link), so you can have as much or as little hanging off your camera as you want.

Thanks Jon. I actually have the adapt-it connections from Optech. They came loose on my bodies though. Had them connected via the optech hook, scared the hell out of me.

Might need to re=examine which connectors you use, then. I doubt you'll find a generic alternative.

I have the peak design leash and cuff (external link). It works well for me. shoulder strap is light and easy to pack into a tight camera bag.

ive ordered up the Uni Loop and the 0.75 inch Wide Webbing Connectors , I already have the padded shoulder part.
I looked at the utility loop Scatterbrained and may yet still purchase it as I also have the hook from Op-Tech.

Just ordered this myself. Seems like it may be what you are looking for.

Minimizing the amount of dingus left on the camera from any sort of a quick release system is a challenge I am intimately familiar with.

Canon makes it especially difficult due to their obsession with brackets. The only thing a bracket is designed for is the 12mm webbing on the ends of the factory strap. To get a quick release function, we have no option but to add something. OpTech's AdaptIts are promising, but they wear out. We are looking to adapt the same carbon fiber filled material we use to make a stronger implementation with our long filliment carbon.

Nikon's pro cameras are all built around lugs, which is much easier. Simple, very strong, totally reliable split keys are super easy to clip something onto.

Tell me about it. Its a challenge trying to find the correct strap. I do not trust the adapt-its, there's clearly a design flaw with them used in conjunction with their hook/swivel system. My body dropped to the ground twice with them, had to remove them.

Hopefully with what Ive ordered should do the trick. Hopefully uni loops will work ok with the Glidecam, any sort of weight tips the balance off but if i can somehow balance the Glidecam with the uni loops attached it may be alot better than what im using just now

jjmucker, could you elaborate some on the Adapt It's coming loose?
Mine seem bullet proof!
Thanks!

Not to answer for him, but the OpTech hook is known to accidentally release due to twist condition. OpTech will admit this if you speak to their support folks, and we've seen it happen in testing.

This is why all non-locking gate hooks are a bad deal for cameras:

In our testing, AdaptIts are pretty solid. They are tough polyurethane, but we have seen failure on them begin by being rubbed against sharp brackets (older cameras, especially) or on brackets with a sharp nick or gouge in them. Those brackets would also have toasted standard 10mm webbing connectors pretty quick, so not really the AdaptIts' fault.

This is exactly what I do as well.

I will also use a 1" arca clamp with a Black Rapid ring on it to connect to the L-bracket.

I love this system for the versatility.

Yeah, perhaps it was the hook and not the actual small adapt-it, either way, it came loose twice and I didn't trust it after that. If it worked, it would have been brilliant as it was exactly what I was looking for. Maybe if I could source a better hook to use with the adapt-it....
