After spending the winter in on-again, off-again relationships with various mirrorless cameras, and shooting some video, it was great to pick up the boring and brick-like 40D with the el cheapo 55-250 mounted. It made me smile.

U8 girls soccer. It was about 40F with a healthy breeze. I had to pry the camera out of my frozen claw of a right hand when the game ended. No great captures, but plenty of stuff worth keeping (by my standards).

Have you tried sitting down taking photos like this? The perspective changes and makes more interesting images.

The pitch in this case is sunken a few feet below where spectators sit. I'd have to lay flat on the ground to get a more even perspective, which is not worth it to me. I think this is only our game at that location though. I normally do sit, for the very reason you suggest ormathisen.

Thanks.

He-he. I guess you would draw a lot of attention crawling around trying to get good pictures

Images appear oversaturated.

Yeah, they do. I'm not suggesting they are perfect on my monitor prior to uploading, but they definitely look worse after going through Photobucket. Looks like some weird chroma noise adding to that oversaturated look.

My daughter's team had similar color jerseys last year and I had a horrible time getting consistent white balance and exposures with them. You been experiencing that? 2nd picture in this post for example: https://photography-on-the.net …p?p=15837245&postcount=15

Yeah, that sort of day-glo green is not all that photo-friendly. My daughter will be wearing it for many years if she keeps playing soccer locally. I tend to use AWB, expose for the grass and hope for the best.
