Automotive jobs/marketing agencies

New on here so not sure if this is in the right place.

I've just started doing small paid jobs and am hoping to sart getting more work. Although i'm happy shooting anything, ideally i'd love to go into automotive work.

Does anyone here have any advice on breaking into the automotive industry, is it best to go through marketing agencies or contact suppliers/magazines directly etc.

Any advice would help!

I'm not an expert in answering your question but will just advice based on experience.

First of all maybe you can get started on your portfolio website, and most importantly SEO if you want more people to land on your page when looking for a car photographer.

I also do contact magazines directly. You can, but be prepared with a portfolio of your best work, and also be prepared for "we already have an in-house photographer" for many of the magazines.

Thanks for that, I have a portfolio at www.jackdaly.me but have started sending magazines some prints in the post etc and other things to stand out a bit.

There's no reason to not try both agencies & suppliers/magazines

But the only one I see on your page I'd (maybe) use would be this one. The others just aren't going to do the job for you. By that I mean, they aren't going to get the response, "These are GREAT! I've got to call this guy!"

And if you do send something that they might pin on their wall, it should have something on it that IDs you with a phone #.

Get out and started talking to people and meeting more people. Make connections, make friends, and sooner or later small jobs will appear. Its what has worked for me and I've only been doing this under a year now. Been pretty crazy so far this year and the automotive season hasn't even started.
