Seems like they've been hacked again. This will be the 4th time in the last 8 months that my websites have been down or altered by a brutal hacker. Is there another host that offers better service/security than GoDaddy at the same reasonable prices?

I've been using www.ICDSoft.com (external link) to host both of my websites for over 10 years. Stellar service, never had an issue about security.

I've been using Total Choice Hosting (external link) for over 10 years... same experience as mentioned above. Some of their support staff even use messaging programs and are available pretty much 24/7... so you can get instant support without having to enter tickets into their system (which they also have for more serious issues).

Do what I did. Search on best web hosts. I found BlueHost that way. Bear in mind that things don't always stay the same. I used iPower for many years. They were in the top ten when I first joined them. Then they were bought out and everything went down hill fast.

I used iPower too. I switched to GoDaddy when they were on top and now they're having serious security issues on their servers. Both of my sites were hacked and had Viagra ads placed on them. I should have dropped GoDaddy then...

I've never heard of iPower myself, but it seems to follow the logic that the guys on top get targeted and attacked...

I noticed I couldn't get on mine today then I checked their site (which ironically is up and running) and that's when I found out they were hacked on the 12th and were having difficulties getting sites back up and running again.

...interestingly enough, I emailed them and asked them how much credit I'd receive if I dropped their service to go to another place and now my sites are back up and running normally.

Heh, this reminds me of being at a restaurant and waiting on the server to bring your check that seems will never come... I always think that if I get up and start approaching the door that it will come faster ;-)a

I know someone who puts a 25% tip of an over estimated dining bill on the table and tell the waiter or waitress that every time we have to wait for anything, a certain percentage is removed from their tip. Whatever is left, they keep. :) It's kind of nice because my water glass is always filled to the top and my dishes are removed when I'm done. Usually the check is there just before we're done also. :)

I know a number of people who worked as waiters/waitresses and they would do the same thing when they went out to eat... pretty interesting how that tip already being on the table changes the service you can get.

My church uses iPower for their website. I'm the webmaster. I wish they would switch....nuff-said.

...another thing to possibly consider is to use a local provider: as in someone who is literally local.

I moved my hosting, etc to one company, On Networks (external link), when I got exceedingly frustrated with my former US based provider. There is nothing better than actually walking into the building, handing over my laptop, and getting them to configure everything from my outlook to my email addresses all in less than half an hour. Since the change my website has never run faster, smoother without issue. I was never able to get certain things to work: they showed me how to set things up and maintain them myself. There might be someone local with a great reputation that you might be able to speak to face to face.
