Looking for advice on processors....I will use this computer for Photoshop and developing slideshows in ProShow Producer. Will I see a big difference between an i7 3770 vs an i5 3350P?

If Photoshop uses multiple cores, you will definitely see an improvement. The i7 is much better at handling parallel processes and is overall a more efficient architecture.

Photoshop can use some of the virtual cores that hyperthreading will give you, depending on what you're doing, but for the most part I don't think you'll notice much difference between an i5 and an i7.

I haven't noticed any difference between my overclocked i7 2600K and my stock i5 3570K when using Photoshop or Lightroom. It also seems like whenever I do remember to look at my resources the i7 never goes above 50% utilization.

If you're planning on using the on-die video, don't get a P series chip though. Those don't have a GPU so you'd have to buy a separate graphics card.

i7 3520M - that's what I've got and it's perfection. Needs nothing else.

Except it's only a dual core and it's a laptop CPU.

The "only" is faster than some quad-cores out there starting with 36.. ;)

I definitely want a desktop, not a laptop, and I've narrowed it down to these two processors.

If you're looking at a lower end i5 to save money but are okay with on-chip graphics, the P series is pointless. Just get the 3770. You'll have more speed and hyperthreading. You'd have to buy a discrete graphics card with the 3350P anyways which would negate any price savings on the CPU.

The i7 36xx series are ultra low power dual cores which are even slower than normal laptop CPUs. You're not helping yourself out at all...just sayin.
