So I have just returned from my camera's menu and guess what I discovered after having this camera for over a year (bought used from this site)? The picture style was set to some custom standard - not the regular standard. I now have a bruise where I slapped my forehead. DUH!

I took a few test shots of an innocent victim in my home just to see how the change affected skin tones. Wow! HUGE difference! Skin went from orangey-red to normal. I can't believe I missed this and I'm so glad you all lead me to this discovery. Now maybe I won't have to deal with the weird skin tone issues I have been.

THANK YOU!! :)

I am glad you figured it out. Did you see the JPEG I edited? You should be able to save that pic by editing the RAW file. I just did a few quick changes in LR4.

Yes, I did. The color is improved. The skin does look too soft in my original. I'll go back and work with that a bit more. That happened after I ran noise reduction so I'll scratch that and see if it's better.

I don't have LR or PS. Right now I'm running a trial of Paint Shop Pro X5. I'd love to have a version of PS but it's a bit out of my budget. And seeing as how this "hobby" of mine isn't bringing in funds I have a hard time convincing DH to let me spend more on it.

So I'm doing the best I can with what I've got and trying to keep on learning and hopefully improving (with the great help found here). :D
