Stolen nest, hungry kids

For the last few seasons, we've had a pair of Red-Bellied Woodpeckers who have carved out a nest in a dead palm tree next door. This year, however, a family of European Starlings (I think) have taken over, much to the chagrin of the Red-Bellies, who can only come around and complain occasionally about the "squatters".

Here Junior calls out to Mom, who arrives shortly with a bug for her growing brood of youngsters. How about that huge beak on the little guy?!

Definitely Starlings Betty, but what a shame to lose your Red-bellieds.
Your timing to catch Mom/Dad coming home with a meal was great though. Excellent shots.

Thanks, everyone. Would have loved to see some baby woodpeckers. I don't know what those birds will do now.
