Really got to wonder about the price tag if this is real. The lack of OS makes it seem plausible to me, because that would make it larger and more expensive. This could very easily be a $950 lens.

We'll have to wait and see...

Awesome! I had wondered if a UWA of this kind of range was overdue from Sigma - but it's not FF :(

If the IQ holds up this could be a VERY cool lens, and one I'd be interested in for sure. If you have to stop it down to f/2.8 to get it sharp then it won't be much good. But I'm hoping for the best.

this would be an awesome walk around lens. going from WA to relative normal on a crop. HMMM this seriously making me rethink what lens I'll be buying to replace my kit zoom. I was considering the tamron 17-50 but if this sigma is a stop faster and given I already own both a 40mm 2.8 and a 50 1.8 this might fit in best with my current lineup.

The camera is just a tool - it is not responsible for the picture.

I've been considering picking up a Sigma. Canon's lens lineup is getting very stale with no refreshes or anything new in sight.

My question is what price point would a short zoom with a fast constant aperture go for? Any guesses on price point fellas? I'm thinking it'll be in the $500 range personally

I bet it will be ~1k to compete with 17-55 f/2.8. And wow; with the USB dock out now; this could be an amazing walk around on crop.

I can dream can't I. After thinking about it for a bit I think the poster that guessed around $1K to compete with the 17-55 IS was spot on. Though with that said maybe it's just me but with the relatively small range if it were up over 1K why not buy into a few primes ie a 20mm 1.8 and then a 30 1.4 or 35 F/2 and be around the same price range but with faster glass. Just a thought

Based off current amazon pricing, 629+500=1129usd for 20 f/1.8 + 30 f/1.4; and you only gain half a stop @ 30mm and lose a ton of range/convenience + I expect pay more. In that situation I think the new zoom (assuming ~1k price point) would be a no-brainer...

Here is a preview from a Korean website:

Hard to tell, some pictures look quite good at 1.8

Also a preview on FF, image gets cut off until 35mm
