is the 135mm f2.8 Soft Focus quietly being discontinued...

the lens is still listed on canons website...however I can't find any spot that has it new right now.

for what it was selling for new, i can't imagine they were selling many at the price point they were asking

I always thought they made announcements when something was discontinued

Can't you get the same effect with the clarity slider in Lightroom?

I always thought that lens was a hidden gem. Guess I am considering the price used. Not a fan of the SF, but still, a nice 135 for a lot less than the 135/2. I did do some side by side testing of those 2 lenses. SF (off) f/4 and beyond produced abotu the same results as the 135 L. Gene

i'm sure you could easily do it in post...it's a pretty weird effect, I used it once on mine just to see what it was like...but I only use it without the soft focus on now

yeah, I got mine on ebay for $100 cause the person sort of mislisted it...they said it was film only, and I think the fact that it's a pretty unknown lens, meant few bidders

I have had 4 different SF or DC lenses. Post processing is not quite the same. But, I don't use SF anymore either.
