Best 5D3 focusing setting with 85LII

Hi,
I like to glue a new 5D3 to the 85LII. I am using it for wedding.

Has anyone here have any good focus setting on your 5D3 that you tested and like with high rate of accuracy of good keeper rate?

I know that the 5D3 has a few senarios for focusing, which do you prefer?

Single crosstype point using spot focusing?

spot focusing i believe. i focus on single spot if that is what you are asking. i think i had all the boxes ticked for the focusing type.

I just recently got this lens for my 5Diii. I use single point AF or single point spot AF placed on the eye, usually the center point. Its definitely worth the time to test and set the micro-focus adjustment. I currently use a setting of +3 to correct some front focusing. That said, my miss-rate is still frustrating. If you have the patience for it, live view autofocus is rock solid.

I think a big part of my problem is that I'm shooting wide open at close distances, so my depth of field feels like its approximately 2-3 microns, and if it doesn't land exactly where I want it to (the eye usually) it feels like a failed shot. I should probably back up or stop down. But I never seem to want to.

I assume wide open. If you shoot on the spur of the moment, or the subject or yourself is walking, shoot Al_servo single xpoint focus. Any of the xtypes will work very well. Aim for the eyes by moving the joystick around. I never had a problem with the non-xtypes if the lighting is adequate.

For what it's worth, I usually shoot with my 135 f2L at f2.2 or f2.5...just for the little extra DOF. My keeper rate noticably improved vs wide open.

My only non-L is the 85 1.8. Maybe someday I'll spring for the L.

Wasn't the question about AF configuration (Case 1 - Case 6) ?

yes and no,.... case 1-6 is part of the focusing thing. cross type affect the focus as well. as for now, i'm using case 2 since i photo people with lesser movement

I found that if shooting in low light, spot focus is not as reliable as regular center point focus since the area of focus is too small and many times not enough contrast to lock.

I normally use back button focus with center point and 4 points assistant and prime it a few times to make sure.
