Just curious if the 10 free uploads a month, means you can only upload 10, or is it like it sounds and can upload 10 and wait another month and upload 10 more, etc, so by the end of a year you have 120 images uploaded? Sorry if this sounds really silly, I know I think it sounds like I'm clueless but I just want to make sure I"m understand it correctly. Thanks.

It's actually 10 uploads per week on the free account, and it does reset every week. For example, I have close to 100 images posted without having ever paid a dime.

I don't see the upload limit as a serious consideration unless you want to store entire albums of specific outings or events there (e.g., upload all 30 keepers from your vacation at once). The incentives to upgrade lie in other features like sets, personal gallery, etc.

Considering most people use the site to upload their BEST work I don't see 10 as a limit, unless you wanna upload tons of images.

Sounds right to me, I guess by limiting your number of uploads 500px wants you to use it as a portfolio of your best work whereas flickr is more a social network / dumping ground for lots of pics.
That's how I see it anyway, not sure if others agree?

I pay for 500px, so I upload my "pretty good" stuff that I think it worth sharing, and then you can setup the portfolios for an actual portfolio. I upload to Flickr, too, on a Free account, but I just don't engage in the groups on Flickr, I use G+ more for engagement.

If you're not a professional and you're limited to shooting photos in your free time after work, then being limited to 10 photos won't be a problem. I see the pay accounts as being for the super star photographers with tons of followers who are expected to post lots of photos very frequently. If you're a serial photo poster where you take every single photo from your trip to the zoo or something and post them up, then 500px is not the place you should be.

Also $20 for a whole year is absolutely nothing.

I don't normally run into issues with the upload limit. What does annoy me, is when I'm cruising the fresh pics and I come across a wedding photog who uploaded 100 images.

My personal thing is I like to support the services that I like, so spending $20 or $50 a year isn't an issue.

I know what you mean most of my uploads are at night and sometimes my shots get lost in the mix of someone's 25+ uploads. I won't be buying another acct at 500px as my work isn't of the "quality" there. Support is good, but to get seen you have to be very good or very crappy and comment on others works a lot. I just want to put up photos that I like and well...if nobody else does that is their choice.
