I had a grip for my XT back in the day and loved it. I want to get a grip for my somewhat newly acquired 60D. I love this camera but want the added functionality that I enjoyed with the gripped XT. Should I get the OEM version or a 3rd party? If 3rd party is the recommended route, which brand is most reliable? I don't mind paying $139 for OEM over $50 or so for 3rd party if it lasts as long as I need it to and it functions correctly. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and advice.

I ended up buying the Meike Grip from Amazon because it turns out, the Canon grip cost 20% of what I paid for my 60D refurb. I've had it for a year and so far, so good.

It isn't as nice of a match as the Canon grip but it isn't bad.

I have a Meike grip on my T1i. Seriously thinking of a 60D with the recent dropping prices. Would definitely consider a Meike grip for it.

I also have the Meike grip. It's excellent and definitely one of the best accessories I've bought for my camera

I have the Meike, which I bought for about half the price of the OEM Canon, even after customs duties.

Great piece of hardware.

Meike here as well. I think I paid $30 for it on Amazon. It didn't advertise Meike but ended up being one. It's okay. the handstrap post fell out of mine and was blocking the battery tray from fully engaging in the holder. It stunk like crazy when I first got it. The grip also has a bit of flex in it especially with long heavy lenses. Otherwise the buttons worked well and if functioned okay.

Been using a Zeikos on my 60D for several months without a problem. No idea if it's any different than the Meike, but at least it didn't come reeking of noxious fumes.

Oddly enough, my Meike grip didn't reek when I got it last year. I was worried about it since several people had mentioned it. Maybe they have a variety of suppliers and they don't share exactly the same manufacturing techniques.

I -thought- I was buying a 'real' Canon grip for my 60D on ebay about 18 months ago for around $50. It was obviously a fake. But it worked flawlessly for me. I sold the camera and grip last December, the my buyer/friend didn't like the grip, so she took it off.

I just ordered a Meike grip. $38.97 or so shipped. We will see...

Thanks to everyone for weighing in and offering their opinions.

I got the Meike grip in the mail yesterday. So far, performance is flawless and aesthetics are closer than I expected. Saved enough from the Canon grip to possibly buy a speed light soft box. Pretty good deal I think. I highly recommend the Meike grip for the 60D. Thanks to all who offered advice.
