Critiques welcome.

Canon 1D MKIV + 70-200 IS II @ F/2.8

I'm really trying to venture outside of the box with the typical crop on this shot. Thoughts on #1 vs. #2

I'm not sure my thoughts on this picture. I kept playing around with the crop and settled. If I took the player out of the frame, it was even more boring (imo). With the player in the frame I still think it's bleh. I really liked seeing the effort from 1st.

I'm partial to the crop on #2, both are good, 2 is better in my opinion. Nice work

In the first picture, I prefer crop #2. But in both of those, all I keep looking at is the third base coach. :(

I like #3. Having been a fastball pitcher myself, I like those kind of shots.

#2 for me. I think #3 is outstanding!

Great shots, Clarity, colors, are incredible. I actually like #1 over #2. In #3, the pitcher is looking at the ground, not the target.

fix your horizons in both 1 and 2...your light standards should be plumb. The third base coach immediately behind ball detracts a bit but nice concept with the crop. Not often a great angle but because you catch the batters eye, it works. Agree that pitcher photo would be better if her eyes were up. Last photo has missed peak action...be better if ball were just arriving into her glove.

#1 for me as well, nice job on controlling the exposures.
Most lose the white helmet into the background with purple
fringing and all, but here you retain excellent detail throughout.
Great job.

That seems to be a trend. None of their ptchers looked at the catcher until after the release and the "power" was gone. It was really strange. I probably took 25-30 photos and every single one they were looking down.

This applied to both teams which I thought was odd.

Dang, good call on the horizon. I was basing it off the player and didn't even pick it up with the pole. I just totally overlooked that.

The positioning was really limited since they have an oddly large dug-out. I know I wanted to make sure that pole wasn't anywhere near the player. I was sitting on the ground all the way up against the dug-out fence. I was hoping F/2.8 would have blurred the coach a tab more but oh well.

What's your thought on the better angle for shooter the batters?
