Took this shot on the day of delivery. My wife was a good sport . Does not care to have her picture taken. Purchased the lens to take pictures of the grand kids but suspect it can do a whole lot more. C and C appreciated

Good focus on the eyes. Not sure why you used f/2.8 and stood so close, as it put her chin and cheekbones out of focus. Her skin is a tad too red. Or perhaps it's the contrast with the bright green background, which would have contributed in a better way if it wasn't so bright. My suggestion is to resist using the wide aperture of a wide aperture lens unless you're fine with the narrow depth of field.

Thanks Joe, that's two of us not sure why I used 2.8. Yes, you are right about the skin being two red. On second look her hair looks pink on the top. I am a landscape guy who has won a few awards for my work but have a lot to learn with my new lens. Again this was my every first shot. Thank you for you input.

It looks over-exposed to me. ??
The color looks off, too.

The processing and crop is poor, imo.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

I agree that the processing and crop is very bad. I should of waited before posting. I went back and looked at my RAW file and can now see how far off I was with the skin tones. No more C&C needed. Wish I could delete it :)

Colors off, overexposed, out of focus.
Sorry for being so harsh but you need to spend more time on exposure fundamentals.
The bokeh looks good though.

This lens will be great with the kids. Put camera in Tv mode, set on something like 1/640 to stop their action, and adjust ISO according to how much light is available ... just click a few shots and you will be easily able to tell how much ISO to add or subtract. The auto-focus on this lens is super fast and accurate - just don't shoot at 2.8 except when the poor lighting forces you to do so.

agree this is too close for 2.8. it's ok with this lens if you have some distance and want a good background blur. On a separate but related note. Double check your micro-adjust. Mine was quite a bit off.

Thanks for all of your comments and for going easy on me. (Well most of you went easy :) ). I Will post again once I am through the learning curve with the lens.
