Hi all.. I want a long lens for location shoots for weddings..

What do you guys think? I'm leaning towards the 135 as my 24-105 I already use for versatility

Im assuming mainly indoors? If you are doing indoors then you will want a faster lens. If you cannot get a 2.8 70-200 then get the 135 to use in conjunction with your 85 1.8.

I never felt that the 135mm les was quite long enough, especially on a full frame camera. This was true even when the 135mm was the longest focal length available on rangefinder 35mm cameras without a reflex housing.

IMO, the 70-200mm f/2.8L (series) lens or even the 70-200mm f/4L IS lens is far more versatile than a 135mm prime...

For outside the 70-200 would work well. So it all depends on if you want the bokeh that the 135 offers or if you prefer the versatility the 70-200 offers.

Since you already have the 24-105 f/4, I personally would get the 135L. That will give you something more to work with (dof wise) along with the 85 1.8.

I'd go for the canon 70-200 f/4.

The ideal lens is the 70-200 f/2.8 but I assume this isn't in your price range

If you're mainly using it outside, get the 70-200 f/4. If you can swing it, save a little longer and get the 70-200 f/2.8 non-IS. It is well worth it!

f/2 versus f/4. No contest IMO. On crop, the 135L comes out to somewhere near 200mm (although apparent blur amount will be reduced, since you're seeing less of the frame). You can stage your distance to your liking and I don't see 200mm as a great advantage unless it's coming in at a wider possible aperture.

On the other hand, if you tend to always stop down a bit, 200mm f/4 might be just fine and should guarantee very nice OOF circles. The 135L's should be nicer still on account of it being a prime versus a zoom, however.

Of course, I'd go with the 120-300mm f/2.8 and get extreme blur capability  Also extreme fatigue however...

Unless you need the focal length flexibility ( like covering an event ), 135 L win outdoor portrait shooting easy.

Fuji XE-1, Zeiss ikon, Hasselblad; I love shooting film as a conceptual idea :)

Down to personal choice as to whether you like primes/wide apertures or having the flexibility of a zoom lens.

I have all of these in terms of reach. I would lean towards the 135L
