It is believed to be the offspring of an ordinary Reddish Egret and a White Morph of the species that is seen occasionally at this site. There was a guy with a nice 500L when I was there. I think he was from Germany. Can't imagine traveling all that distance with a big, valuable lens like that, but lots of people seem to do it.
