by aftermarket, I'm assuming you mean "Non-OEM/3rd party".... because the Best would be the Canon grip.... I've had 3rd party grips in the past, but went with the OEM grip for the 5DIII, and it's absolutely worth every penny IMHO.

I had the Vello, and while I liked that the bottom plate of the grip was metal, the joystick was not angled such as the Canon version, and in my copy of the grip, the joystick broke in two weeks of usage.

I ended up going with one like this... http://www.ebay.com …Grips&hash=item​2a264f876c (external link) ... factory button layout, and everything.

Only gripe with it was that my Kirk L Bracket didn't properly line up with the tripod mount hole... but I ended up bending the L Bracket to work.
