NE Ohio. First I've seen of this species. A pair, rummaging around the leaves. Both looked identical. Thanks if you can provide an ID for me.

Based on it's eyes and attitude, It's a Grackle, but it's color is throwing me!

They are usually all iridescent black. So I assumed it was juvenile, but even those don't look as brown and striped as this.

Thanks guys. As mentioned, two identical 'thrashing about' in the leaves. Were they both females by chance?

Think they'll stay around here or just migrating through NE Ohio area?

State Bird of Georgia Dave!
I've got them year round so I don't really consider them migratory, but the guide says that they are summer dwellers in your area. Must be some sort of migration going on then.
I hope for you they hang around because they can be a hoot to watch. Don't know for sure, but I'd bet the pair is male:female. Seems a little early for young `uns, although I've got a trio hanging around together....hmmmm :)

If you have Northern Mockingbirds in your area their songs are very similar and varied. I have a pair that nest in my yard every year and they love shelled peanuts, berries and especially blue berries or any type of fruit. Last year they got so used to me they would sit 10' from me on a deck post as I was photographing the backyard birds patiently waiting for a free hand-out...lol.
