when I shoot with 5D2 and 70-200 mm lens red roses, they seem to be over saturated, what filters or adjustments can I do,any other tips in shooting red? I try to under saturate and hue adjust in LR4.

How are you exposing your shot? In this situation, red will really dominate the image, so expose for the red channel. Some folks will bracket, some will go for it and use a UniWB approach to see the red channel with WB multipliers all set to 1, so they can use the red channel as an exposure guide.

Also, with shots already taken, try adjusting the raw file's red content with the camera calibration tab sliders (I am assuming you are using LR or ACR to convert) instead of the HSL and see if that helps.

The (JPEG-based) histogram is influenced by your WB/PictureStyle settings and, while overall exposure may seem correct, the red channel can clip and you can lose detail in the reds and get color issues as well.

good luck!

Try using a brush to only desaturate the areas that are clipping.

This has been a trait of Canon sensors that started in ernest with the 40D and still continues. A workaround is to set the camera's histogram for RGB and expose to avoid clipping the red channel. Then in post processing, pull down the saturation on the red channel a bit. By using the historgam correctly for exposure you can still retain detail in the reds that might have otherwise been list.
