So the State Patrol Shows Up...

So I was out amongst the tulips in Skagit County last night and this truck comes onto the field followed by the county sheriff and a Washington State Patrol car. It was about 20 mins to sunset but I thought, wow I wonder what this guy did and this should be good. Well they pull into my row and all get out and they are going to take photos of themselves and the new WSP car. With phone cameras. The guy is John Roozen, the owner of all the fields up there. So I offered to help I got all their cards to send them the pix. All zeiss 50mm and 21mm natural light.

Those new Chevys have faked me out a couple times now. Going to have to get used to spotting a different patrol car on the freeways.

BTW...keep those cards. Never know when you might be able to play the "remember the time I took those pics for you guys?" card to get out of a speeding ticket.

Those new Chevy police cars are actually an Australian built Holden Caprice and exported over to you guys. Some U.S. states brought them as patrol cars. They are rear wheel drive with the 6 litre V8.

Hah yes Ironically on the way to the field I passed the same WSP car in a speedtrap. I was only doing 5 over but that would have been awkward to be busted then meet the same trooper later.

He seemed pretty happy with the car...not a brute top end car but quick. It looks like the Australian import Pontiac G8 of old.

Great photos in a gorgeous location. Some heavy duty bumpers on the front of the police car - wouldn't be for pushing disabled vehicles off the road?

yes that and the PITT maneuver where they tap the rear quarter of an eluding vehicle to spin it out of control
