I'm thinking pine warbler, but I am not convinced. The eyes just don't seem to fit anything that I could find in my book.

This one I am more certain of as a pine warbler... though I still have some doubts.

It has the look of a Nashville Warbler, female, from that angle. But could be wrong of course.

The first one is a White-eyed Vireo.

Chris has the 1st one right, and I think Joe may be close on the 2nd.
Not so sure it might not be Tennessee Warbler. I'm no expert on either Nashville or Tennessee Warblers, but w/no wing bars I know it's not a Pine Warbler.
Oh yeah, nice captures too.

Thanks a lot. I am gonna go with Tennessee and White-eyed for the ID's. You guys are great. I am not so good with song birds, but I enjoy shooting the migration here along Lake Erie.

Its funny... Birders are very much like fisherman. The tall tails and quick ID's with only a glimpse from binoculars. Its why I don't count anything on my "life list" that I have not photographed.

I used reports from eBird for the area I was in as a basis to do my IDing. I also listened to the people around the boardwalk talking about various birds that they saw and what they were. Its amazing just how often they are wrong (not every time, but more than I would have expected). If it really is a Tennessee Warbler, that would have made more people excited I think than they were, if they had realized it.

Thanks again.

Birders are no different than photographers. Some are much better than others and some are just learning.

Really good birders can ID a bird with just a glimpse, nothing mysterious about it. And new birders can get excited and miss ID's over and over.

I would consider Orange-crowned Warbler for your second bird. Tennessee Warbler should have white undertail coverts by this time of year, but Orange-crowned will always be yellow. And I can see just a hint of the orange crown, which is not often seen.

You are correct about the variability of skill/experience. Being a total song bird Noob, means that I completely trust those who sound more informed than me. I was definitely not trying to be little the entire birding community (which I am starting to consider my self a apart of).

As for the I.D. I did notice the orange on the head. I think it is funny that after hours looking at pictures in the guide book, I just flipped to orange crowned and then smacked my forehead. I wonder why I didn't pick that out on my own. Thanks again for the help.

Well hang on to that picture, because you may not ever get another showing even a hint of the orange crown! I've been birding for 30 years and I've only seen it a few times, usually when they're bathing or the wind is blowing from behind.
