Right, I am usually a nightlife/lifestyle photographer.
(Shameless plug http://www.flickr.com/photos/80072515@N06/ (external link))

When it comes to family events that are not my own or a piss up in a brewery, the sorts of shots people may be after are out of the window.

It is for a friend and otherwise they would not have a photographer as it is not really a large do and his parents are well, broke. As I have never done it before, I see it as an opportunity and also helps a mate out at the same time (for the payment in lunch and many beers after of course).

I am doing a shoot in a cathedral (high, but white at least) ceilings and generally huge.

My real questions are:

a) I will be brining my 5Diii, 70-200 f2.8, 50mm f1.8, 17-40mm f4 (which may be traded in for a 24-105mm by the time). Sufficient?

b) Setting up flashes, I own a 430 ex ii and 2 yonguno 460s with yonguno triggers. Would a good bet, if they allow flash, to be to have 430ex on camera and bounce, and use the yongunos to bounce from the ceiling? Should provide a pleasing soft light...right?

c) What sort of shots would people really want?

Thanks for any help, I have browsed wedding albums and such before but never a "renewing vows" session. Lost and clueless on that one.
I am happy with shooting the piss up after mind, being my usual territory.

^^^

a) You have plenty of gear....

b) If you are allowed to use flash, yes, bounce it off whatever you can, or at least use an OCF cord and a modifier. (I've found this works okay where the ceilings are too high to bounce off)

c) Think about what kind of shots your friends will like. Obviously shots of them during whatever ceremony is taking place. Using that 70-200 will give you the opportunity of getting some closeups which are usually popular. But if you are allowed to be close to the action, the 24-105 may be best.

But the interesting thing to me is that when others have shown me their wedding, birthday or other ceremony shots the ones they seem to enjoy the most are those of their friends, which seems to be your forte. So once the main action is over, get as many shots of others as you can...specially shots of them having fun.

Growing old disgracefully!
