My friend is getting married and his fiance asked me to take some photos at her bridal shower. I want some general feedback on these if anyone would be kind enough to share what you think I could do better next time with lighting, composition, focus, etc. Most of these were shot with the kit lens 18-55 with the yn-560 pointed at the ceiling.

That "link" had both url & img tags. I fixed it. Click on "Edit" to see what I did.
Looks like you did a good job on the shoot!

I've scrolled through most of your pictures, and i must say i like the overall result. Nearly all of them appear to be sharp and vibrant. I could really feel the mood that must have been present that day.

There are a few exeptions that i would leave out of this gallery personally though, like photo's 051 & 031 and 032.

Yes I used a flash pointed at the ceiling for most of these. Some shots I went off camera with my flash, some bounced off of a wall. What can I do to reduce the dark eyes when bouncing off of a ceiling? Is there a piece of kit that I am missing or a technique you can suggest?

You can tell that some are off the ceiling - the solution is a bounce card which throws some of the light toward the subject. It is also a cheap solution.
You can also invest in Lumiquest Quik Bounce but it is a bout $40.

BTW these are all quite good esp the large group - these are tough!

I second this ^

I sometimes just use my left hand. Even been known to hold a paper plate .. ;)
Just about anything will work, but yeah, I agree with ktan7.
Those eyes need to pop! But over-all, you nailed the focus, and the comps are good too.

Keep it up! :D

Thanks so much for all your compliments, I'm really quite honored! I'm also sort of kicking myself because i have a rogue flashbender, but i felt like it is a little too big and unruly to be swinging around on camera at a party, so I left it in the bag.

with the yn-560 pointed at the ceiling.

These are OK, but they need a little fill. Here's a old fill light trick when bouncing off the ceiling just isn't good enough.
