For making it look good without a lot of stray reflections, I think that the last one is the best. OTOH, I still don't think that it looks as good as my crappy Cruze, (external link) & you had the light in the sky there to make it look great. ; )

OTOH?

as for the reflections, yeah, I didn't see the nasty one on the front of the car in the second one until i got it into post, and it was so blown out I couldn't do anything to it :/

OTOH?

Yes. If you need another example, how about the Beast? (external link) No strobes. Just the free light that was there. No busy background. Just something that didn't compete with a great car.
PPPPPP. ; )

Calm down. The message was to try to search for the best light/background.

No, I spent some of my time to help you see how to make your images better. 'Scuse me for wasting my time trying.

I dont post much (like ever), but after reading this guy's comments I felt I needed to.

Awesome pictures man. The under bridge shot looks great, wonderful lighting. Its unfortunate about the blown out bumper, but what can you do. Great symmetry, textures, framing.

First one is great as great as well! Personally, i think the tower is a little busy and distracts from the beautiful sky. Maybe give a "content aware" fill a shot and see how it does? I really like the random highlights and reflections on the drivers side of the car. Kinda gives it a "driving through a busy city" feel. i think a tighter crop top and bottom would have kept your eyes focused on the car a little more. The bridge is a really nice touch, haven't seen much of that in rig shots.

Last picture is nice for a static shot. Personally i would have loved that same set up but shot with the car turned around. Maybe hit the driver's side of the car with another flash, kind of a rim/edge light look. I think that would help the front of the car from disappearing into the background.

Anyways, i think that's mostly nit-picky stuff. Beautiful shots.

(Thats how you write a thoughtful, helpful and productive photography critique. Not "well its not quite as good as MY awful, over-processed pictures" reply.)

thank you for the well-worded, reasonable criticism!

the first one actually has a couple smaller things already cloned out of the background; light poles and a smaller antenna that was "growing" out of the top of the car. I'll try to clone out the tower and see how it looks.

The last picture is the exact same placement as the second one, I was walking back to my truck to set up for the rig shot, but saw the sunset and had to try and capture it. I've been trying recently to balance an interesting background with not distracting from the car, as I felt some of my previous work was leaning towards being too boring. I even shot this one at f/1.8, but it didn't blur out as much as I would have liked. I prefer not to add blur in post, it just looks cheesy to me.

again, thank you for taking the time to comment!

I went back and re-edited the rig shot, tried it without the tower, and I like it much better!

I don't believe so. Those were the three from this set that I worked towards and am happy with. Thank you though!
