F/8 is the 'minimum' aperture the lens and 1.4 extender combination allow, so no scope of a wider aperture. The fact that 5d3 can autofocus for this lens+extender saves us thousands of $S needed for a 600mm f/5.6 lens! Sharad Medhavi

The DLO module and the Lens Aberrations module turns all images green. I have a post in the firmware thread about it. Yes, it auto-focuses at f/8 just fine, but they need to address the shortcomings. Think I spotted something in the small print on the Canon download centre saying that intalling 1.2.1 would require you to update all Canon Utility software for everything to work correctly with it. Worth checking it out in case you need to update DPP. These are small, but the ones out there are far away.

ISO 6400 is what allows me to freeze this frame, any thing lower would require a slower shutter speed. I am glad that even ISO 6400 gives a reasonable quality when exposed properly. BTW, in this case I was using f/10 for the sake of testing. I could have used f/8 and ISO 3200. But I would not hesitate using a higher ISO, against using a slower shutter speed, when freezing fast moving objects like flying birds. Let me know if I got your question right. I think the point, at least mine was, that you could have frozen it with less than 1/8000 and thus lowered the ISO a bit. The 5D3 is great at high ISO but there's nothing like low ISO if you can get it http://emjfotografi.com/
