nice. there's an awesome blog post about how to properly set up the camera, I will look for it tonight.
I may need to go over them all, myself.

That sounds great! Please see what you can find. Cheers!

What's going on with the lower left in this shot? Were you shooting through distorted window glass?

No - it was outside, from a balcony - this is a panoramic stitch so that's why there is weirdness of the image. There is a way to not have that stretching but this is the method that results in straight lines and no curviness, and I chose to display it this way. I kinda like the exaggerations. The clouds are much more dramatic on the first version, for instance. I show you another stitching method below, that preserves more of the sharpness and detail in the corners. I was in the middle of doing an engagement shoot, and shot this quickly from the couple's residence. I could have taken more care in doing it, if I had more time. The FOV was extremely close as you can see below.

To give you an idea of how close this FOV is, each individual frame you see below is at 17mm.

here is one of the stitching styles that retains more sharpness - and it will also show you why the first image I posted has the blurred areas:

My son at home. All natural light using the nearby windows on a cloudy day. Good diffused light. I'll keep working on this posing.

Hope you don't mind I did this with your photo, I liked it and thought it looks better without the rope

I understand it is distracting, and usually I would edit out whatever is distracting, but I found this deer in Yosemite with the rope caught on the antlers. I preferred to leave it in the photo because I believe it gives the deer and the photo more character. :)
