The write speed only slows when you are writing to the SD card. I keep a SD and CF card in the camera at all times, but I only write to the CF card usually. Only when I need a backup for redundancy or if I run out of space on the CF card do I start using the SD card. Buffer clearing is noticeably slower at that point. Good thing is, you can use cheaper SD cards, probably don't need one faster than 30 or 45MB/s.

Exactly what I do ...

I do same.

One tip on the same subject for MedicineMan4040 - if you have both cards in the camera, and you take the CF card out to transfer files by card reader, leave the door open. If you shut the door, the camera switches to write to the SD and stays with it when you put the CF card back in. So, without you having asked it, the camera has switched to SD. Then when you start shooting you wonder why it is writing slower until you realise you need to switch back to CF. If you leave the door open while the CF is out, it stays with the CF when you put it back in. It does this regardless of power on, or power off.

Yeh, me neither

Col
