He asked me if my order email would be okay for them to use when they send the rebate.

Contacted Andrew and he said they will contact after 4-weeks to confirm a paypal email (if you have one), otherwise they will send a paper check. He had me confirm it now, so I won't have to in the future. So my rebate will be dropped right into paypal.

BTW, Andrew is simply fantastic. Quickly answers any and all questions I had when I was bugging him. Looks like this site will be highly successful IMO, especially if deals can be had fairly consistently. I for one, plan to use it quite heavily from now on after my deal I got!

My 70-200 II should arrive tomorrow from Adorama, I *think*. Had an origin scan Monday night when it was loaded on the truck I assume, and no update since. I think this has happened before though, where it just had that one scan until it arrived at my local facility where it then updated and arrived on time. Hopefully it comes tomorrow as planned! :D

BTW... UPS just start doing hold for pickup now like Fedex? I swear before they charged or at least had to attempt delivery at least once before they would allow it... I was able to request it this time, free, without at least one delivery. VERY happy about that. I love being able to just pick my stuff up without having to wait for a truck all day. :D (One reason I much preferred Fedex prior).

Sadly, my 70-200 II arrived defective in multiple areas...

First, the front element had rub marks all over it... No big deal, was able to get them off via lenspen, although it was quite stubborn (looked like scratches at first). But honestly, c'mon Canon... Check the product before it is boxed up!

Secondly, the zoom ring has quite a bit of slack in it... Radial play. It would move 1mm or so in either direction until it would actually operate the zoom elements. Sloppy, if you will.

Lastly, the IS is broken. I noticed it was louder than usual (I have had this lens a few times prior, so I know the normal sound). Then I just discovered when in portrait orientation, the IS just jumps back and forth and does not settle. Clear sign it is broken (along with the noise)!

I contacted Adorama for an exchange. Hopefully the next one won't be such bad luck! :D

Units come into us ready boxed; the pickers simply scan the outsides of the boxes as in this video

They don't open them up to check the contents.

Sorry to hear about your defective lens. When I received my box from UPS, one of me lens box side were dented, but my lens was working fine. I just think the UPS delivery guys don't really care whats in the box and just toss it as if its nothing valuable. I was a little upset that my box was dented, but as long as the lens work, I'm fine. I just hope they have better delivery services as if it was their own merchandise. I hope you get a better lens the next time they ship it.

Also on a side note, I hope Adorama puts more protection inside the box such as foam or some cushion for the lens box itself on all four sides. The UPS guys toss things around and can cause internal damage which we don't see on the outside of the box.

Oh yes Helen, I was not saying Adorama caused any issues... I know nobody touches it once it leaves the Canon factory, so I blame them for poor QC! :D

And the lens was packed well. Although the box had signs of some abuse (nothing too bad though), there was plenty of airbags all over inside. IMO, it was packed well for the most part.

My luck has just been terrible though with Canon lenses lately... When I bought my 35L recently from Amazon, the first one came and had clicking noises as the focus ring was turned. Had to exchange that one as well! Thankfully, the second time around seems to be the lucky charm for me... Wish it was the first though :D

wowo...got the 70-200 f/2.8 mk ii today. Andrew was super to deal with. Fast email respond. Same with Helen. There is no need to bargain with crazy 'used" price and refurb anymore. Greentoe is the way to go now.

OK, good - so as I said above, drop me a line if there are issues with the exchange
