here goes anyway.

Are all EF lenses compatible with my recently purchased EOS 350 D?

This might be an often repeated question but I need your expertise.

I am in the market for a lense overlapping my existing 18-35mm and 55-200mm bundled lenses and having searched on e-bay it seems it is cheaper to by an old 35mm EOS ??? and utilise the lense sold with the body. I could then re-sell the body on over e-bay to recoup some if not all of the outlay.

ANy suggestions

Yes, but . . . Some older Sigma lenses won't function correctly with newer EOS bodies. Sigma has developed replacement chips for some, but not all, of them. Other than that, they should do fine.

All Canon ones are - third party ones should be although some older ones may not be without being rechipped.

All EF lenses fit the EOS cameras, I am certain. There are many levels of performance that you have to know before buying anything, especially off ebay. Old EOS 35mm cameras may have lenses all ready included, but the lenses might be very limited, not the best ones. What camera and lenses were you considering? Oh, just to let you know: EF-S lenses only fit the 300D, 350D and 20D and nothing else. Some lenses were specifically made for digital.

I have an old 28-80 lens from my first Rebel G. It is a useless lens for me now with the equipment that I have. Canon has produced many lenses since that are faster, sharper and can take in much more light. So, buying an old lens might not do it for you.
