How do I post a screen-shot?

Have you tried something like Screenshot Captor (external link)? It runs in the background and when you hit printscreen it will do the screenshot and then let you edit or resize it from right in it's own window.

This would keep you from having to launch something heavy like PSE or LR.

On my Mac I just CMD+SHIFT+3. Will creates a .png file. Then I can import it into any image editing app.

On Windows I use an old program called Hardcopy. As mentioned by the poster, hit print screen then save.
