shot some track and field last weekend with my 7D, 17-40, and a borrowed 70-200 f2.8 mkII

Nice work, I think #3 and #4 could have been cropped tighter though.

if you take notice to the background in #1. if i cropped tighter then i would chop up the persons head in the background. it was a relay race and the person behind the guy in focus was the last person that just passed the baton off to the guy in focus. the image actually shows part of a story. i prefer to not crop super tight because then you might lose part of the story that an image tells

Nice set. The red track seems to have reflected onto the athletes and made them look like tomatoes. Not sure what you could do in that strong sunlight, but perhaps reduce the red channel at bit? I like the highjump shot, nice timing, but the hurdles might look more impressive with the leading athlete at the peak of the jump.

All good, but number 3 is great, at least to me. I love the hair and the seeming exuberance on her face. To me, it speaks to all the good in truly amateur athletics. I'm old enough to remember when Dick Fosbury introduced the Fosbury Flop, and was initially ridiculed for it. Of course that was before he brought home the gold in '68.

These are excellent...colour, sharpness and action.


1dxmk2 and 3, with EOS-1D R and 5d4. Sigma Art 20mm & 35mm f1.4, Canon 135 mm f2L, 24-70 f2.8ii, 85 f1.4, 70-200 f2.8L is, 100-400 mk2 and 600ex.

thanks for the feedback everyone.

i cant wait for the next chance i get to shoot sports especially with that 70-200 mkII ^_^

by far sports photography is my favorite type of photography followed by landscapes because i love to go hiking :D
