I agree, and that being the case, it tends to leave the photo flat. I like the composition alot. Play with some curves etc on the tones, see what you can come up with. She is adorable

Looks to be very sharp and well exposed. And an interesting smile. I think Flo has hit the processing pretty good though. Shadows on the face give it depth and character.

Flo - I like your redo of the image. My pp skills annoy me, for lack of better description. Did you change highlights, midtones, and shadows individually on curves? I just toyed with the sliders under the Basic tab in LR (blacks, shadows, whites, etc.). I don't seem to have a good handle on manipulating curves so any advice on how to be better is greatly appreciated.

Nik Silver Efex.....got it free with my update of Color Nik..

Tried to add some more contrast ... and bring out the freckles more lost some of the detail in the shirt but hope you like it
