I am beyond frustrated here and I just hope someone can help. I have been sitting here over an hour trying to get my printer to print this size. I've gone over all the steps to set up front feeding for the paper and I think everything is right. But each time I go to print lightroom crashes. I've restarted the program and the computer and I just cant figure out how to make this print. Please Help

How about Photoshop? Try printing something else or on another program to narrow down your issue?

I hate printing in LR. I'd rather pull out my own spleen.

Well I've never done it, but I can tell you it is very easy with DPP - canon software with a canon printer. I hate printing from any editing software I have used, I don't think the developers worry too much about the printing side of things.

For that size print, I wouldn't bother interpolating pixels. Just output a .tiff file from LR (with sharpening for printing), open in DPP with File - 'print with detailed settings', set the paper size etc..., set the print size and you can even adjust where on the paper it will print it.

You should be able to choose to either use a printer profile or have the printer manage it, whatever you usually do from LR.

For a printer profile, this is what my settings look like - you just have to make sure you turn off printer management - properties, Main - Set, Matching - None. Choose 'ICM' if you want the printer to manage color (I know this is not recommended, but it often works fine - I sometimes test print with this option just to check if doesn't look better).

Under 'image' you can choose the exact size you want and position it on the paper.

Or - output a .tiff, and then import that into LR and print if you are trying to process a raw at the same time (not exactly sure how LR works in this regard). Of if you are woring with a .tiff, try a .jpg.

Photoshop is not printing either. But I am getting a printer error saying the paper is not loaded right. The amber light on the printer blinks and I get the error in the canon pro9000 driver screen. Perhaps this is why LR was crashing. But still, I don't know what I am doing wrong. Ive tried to load this paper at least 10 times now with the same result.

Why are you loading from the front? A special paper?
Try the rear tray.

OK - problem solved. I wasn't loading the paper right. I will try it in LR again because I obviously don't know how to print in PS. Only printed half my picture even though the whole thing was showing. That's another story... Thanks for all the help.

I'm using 13x19 paper so I think it only works through the front. But I think I got that part straightened out. Now I cant get the proper size print. I want 11x14. I cropped it for 11x14, I created an 11 x 14 grid, the paper size is correct (I think - I choose A3 + 13 x 19). Paper is definitely loaded correctly. But I am getting a picture about 1/2 the size.

13x19 definitely works via the normal top path.

I'd rather cut out Chet's spleen than print from Photoshop. Gimme LR all day long.

I have the pro9000II and I print from the rear with 13 x 19 paper.

Do you have the 9000 or the 9000II?

What paper size are you using? I did not realize that A3+ was the same as 13 x 19 and I had created a custom paper size. The printer said I needed to use front feed for the custom paper size and I could not get the printer to take the paper. Eventually I figured out I needed to use the A3+ setting and everything printed fine.

I print from LR all the time. I did not realize it was supposed to be difficult.

OK - so yeah, looks like either feeder works for this size paper. But my problem is that I cant seem to print at the size I want, I keep getting a print about half the size.

Now you'll waste $50 to $100 in paper and ink trying to get it to print correctly in LR. LR has a mind of it's own when it comes to printing.

I think it's your setup. I do not have any issues. (Except for the occasional human error)

The LR setting that sometimes catches me out is the Zoom/Rotate to fit check boxes, I usually have zoom off and rotate on. If rotate is off and you have the "wrong" orientation what happens is the image will resize to fit ACROSS the cell instead of along it. This will give an image that is about half the area that is desired. One thing to do would be to also turn on the on screen guides, especially that for the image cell. It will at least show your where it wants to print, if the image is the correct aspect ratio to fit in the cell.
