This guy was in my backyard yesterday poking around the cement when I arrived from work.
Was able to get a couple of shots before it flew away.
Apologies for the less than interesting background.

Thanks for posting these shots. This is one of my favorite birds. The shots are so very sharp and clear with great detail. I love the poses. I live in Texas a see a few of these beautiful birds in the winter only..... where I am. I would love to have more. I attempt to attract them to my bird feeders with suet but not very successfully.

Wonderful shots, clear, good detail and gentle light. Lovely bird. The background could be worse.

Those are great shots of a hard to approach bird; well done. Coincidentally, I saw my fist flicker of the year just a couple hours ago.

Very nice. I have actually heard them recently, but have yet to see them this spring. I like the setting that you captured him in. When I do see them, they are usually drumming on a telephone pole.

Thank you! I don't see them very often here either, and never when I have my camera nearby. Got lucky this time!
