So Dj R are you holding on to your current kit?

yes, at this time.
I think I have an issue - I like the hunt, the chase, the transition.

tomorrow, is a new day, I may decide the 85 is too heavy and decide to cash in on it.
haha

Yea you seem like you may just need more than 4 lenses :-}

I've never tried the 85L but I hear its awesome. I've always been tempted but the size and weight kept me away plus I really can't justify it.

You can always try picking up a used 135 to add to your kit and see how you feel. Many are always for sale so you can probably get a good deal. Its such a great lens.

Here is a great resource on bokeh comparison. Just change the MM and F as desired and update.
Im sure this is a repost, but it's worth re-sharing.

I'm not.completely positive, but I think OP used to have a 135L which he sold when he elected to go with the 85L and 200 2.8L instead?

Read this thread and felt inspired to consolidate my lenses a bit since a few are just gathering dust. But I Just went to thebigphotoshow at the Los Angeles Convention center yesterday and got to check out the new Tamron (150-600, 24-70, etc) and Sigma offerings (35A, 50A, 120-300) and I must say lenses these days are just soooo good. I ended up adding a Rokinon 14 cine lens even though I don't really need it but it was a great deal. Damn, I'm not a pro, just love photography!!

If I would go just with primes for my crop sensor I think I would go something like this:

Canon 24 f/2.8 IS USM
Canon 35 f/2.0 IS USM
Canon 50 f/1.4 USM

Fujifilm X100V

I am back to just a 24-70 MKII and a 70-200 IS MKII. Thinking of a UWA Zoom.

While not exactly simplifying anything, here's where I'm going...

Current:

17-40 f/4L
35 f/2 IS
50 f/1.2 L

Planned:

Switch 17-40 for the 16-35 f/4 IS L
Add a 135 f/2 L
Add a Rokinon 14mm or 24mm for wide-field astro

I don't think I'd ever need anything more than that!

I started with zooms, but now I am trying to move more to primes, not because IQ wouldnt be good enough but because I am trying to force myself to use "leg zoom" does change your way of how you shoot.

Only thing where I need zoom over prime is telephoto, because often I cant move because I would scare my subject away.

I have bucked the primes setup and bought a 24-70 as I couldn't keep up with my kids with the manual focus lenses.

I've always resisted owning both 24mm and 35mm primes. I finally gave in, and I'm pretty happy with my current set up. I may add a 50 at some point.

24L II - 35A - 85 1.8 - 135L

I thought they were too close. If you get the 50L, you may decide to sell the 35L.
good luck.

Currently on crop

Working with

18-35 f/1.8
24-105 f/4

and thinking of adding 85 1.4 or 50 art 1.4 to complete my trinity.
