Canon 600 ex-rt triggered with built in flash?

Hey im new to this strobist stuff. i just bought the 600 ex-rt and i need it for a shoot in 2 days. can i trigger the flash off the camera with the built in flash on my 60d?


Canon 60D - 24-70mm 2.8 L II - 70-200mm 2.8 L IS II - Speedlight 600 ex-rt - Broncolor Move 1200L pack + A2L pack + MobiLED flash head

Yes. Optical wise but not RT wise. You'll need another 600ex flash or a st-e3.

I use the optical on-board flash of my T3i to trigger my 600 RT. Works great indoors even when mounted on a stand with an umbrella. Works well outdoors as long as the 600 is fairly close.

Never a big fan of optical triggering. It's horrible when your outdoor and it's horrible when your shooting in front of it. But that's just my experience with the 580exii and st-e2.
